Lower taxes? That’s easy. After a 47 percent tax hike, there’s no one in town who wouldn’t want lower taxes. But what else are Hoboken residents looking for from the next mayor?
The election will be held Tuesday, May 12. Residents can vote for any of the six mayoral candidates, and also choose any three council-at-large candidates for four-year terms.
Many residents expressed frustration with issues like flooding, parking, and senior services; others wanted more parks or better schools. One young mother said that the schools need to make serious improvement in order to keep her family in Hoboken. One man said that after 66 years in Hoboken, he is ready to leave, citing a number of reasons. The six candidates for mayor will have lots of questions to answer. The photos captions above contain a few responses from people on the street.
