Dear Editor:
Amanda was about 8 years old when I first met her. I remember she was so beautiful, she was “strikingly” beautiful. However, that was just on the outside. On the inside, Amanda Callagy was a precious gift from God. Amanda’s smile exhibited such character, and her heart was so dear, it was as if Amanda was put on this earth to make this world a better place for all of us.
Everyone I’ve spoken to has their own story about what a wonderful impact Amanda has made in their lives. Amanda’s extraordinary warmth and compassion for others was evident in every word she spoke. I know my own life has been enriched for the wonderful privilege of knowing Amanda.
I cannot begin to tell you what a terribly empty feeling of sadness came over all of us here in Weehawken when we learned of Amanda’s misfortune. She will be sorely missed every day of the calendar year.
Thank you Amanda, your tremendous legacy will remain in our hearts (all of our hearts) forever and ever.
