Safety for all is our main concern

Dear Editor:

May this communication serve as a note of commendation and recognition for members of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and the law enforcement agencies that responded to the Hudson County Administration/Courts Building on March 10, 2008 during the bomb threat incident that occurred.

I must thank County Executive Thomas DeGise and his staff for their support and assistance to our officers and the public at large during this episode. The men and women of the Sheriff’s Office reacted in a calm and professional manner adhering to the prescribed training in this type of incident. All of the officers, detectives and supervisors performed with the utmost of ability and efficiency always with the concern of the safety of the employees, visitors and the public.

I must thank Chief Tom Comey and the Office of Emergency Management of the City of Jersey City; Chief Robert Kubert and the Bayonne Police Dept.; Bergen County Sheriff; Union County Sheriff; Passaic County Sheriff; NJ Transit Police; Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms; U.S. Park Police and the Port Authority Police Dept. for their assistance with the teams of officers and canines involved in the procedures.

I must firmly state that the paramount concern is and always will be the safety and general welfare of the employees, visitors and the general public of Hudson County and its buildings.
