Important workshop for parents at Meadowlands Hospital

Dear Editor:

First of all, I would like to thank Jill Preis and Mayor Elwell for giving me the opportunity to serve on this prestigious Municipal Alliance Committee. This committee is just another example of the outstanding job that the town of Secaucus does in trying to improve the quality of life. One of the goals of the committee is to try to make parents more aware concerning underage drinking and drug abuse.

For the past year I’ve been doing some research and attending workshops concerning this problem which is out of control nationwide. In fact, supposedly there is some new legislation that the underage teenager could possible lose their license for six months. And also must perform 100 hours of community service in the summer. This committee would like to see more parent involvement and also would like to invite you to attend one of our meetings. The meetings are held once a month at the Secaucus Library.

Jill Preis, the coordinator, has scheduled eight important workshops to be held in the Penthouse at Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus. The guest speakers are all professionals with careers in different fields.

Here are some of the topics: Emotionally intelligent parenting; Dealing with your child’s ups and downs; Social Development and Adolescence; Adolescent Psychology and a workshop featuring Dave Toma, just to mention a few. The dates for the workshops are March 20th, April 10th, May 8th, September 11th, October 9th and November 12th. So please come join me, Jill Preis and the rest of the committee. These workshops will definitely be beneficial to you and for your children. Hope to see you there, March 20th from 7 to 9 p.m.

Respectfully yours,
Julius Carricarte
