On February 16th the Great Music at St. Matthew Trinity Concert Series (now in its fourth year) presented a Concert of Spirituals in honor of Black History Month.
There were three choirs in the concert: the Mount Olive Baptist Church Choir, the St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Choir and the Stevens Choir. The roar of applause from the large audience was ample evidence of the excellence and spirit of director Bethany Reeves and her Stevens Choir. The entire concert was a huge success and a first of its kind for Hoboken.
The star of the concert was local soprano LaTanya Hutchins, who gave a performance few of us will ever forget. The participation of Bethany Reeves and the Stevens Choir was a huge leap in Stevens becoming a part of our community and a star in Stevens’ cap for having done so splendidly.
