Thanks to all who made our fundraiser so successful

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Library Board of Trustees of the Jersey City Free Public Library, we would like to thank the Library Foundation Board of Trustees for their recent successful fundraiser, Casino Night.

The Casino-In-The-Park truly lived up to its name, with its incomparable buffet and service. The professional gaming crew, which brought in tables with green gaming boards and had dealers dressed in tuxedos, added the right kind of style to this Library Foundation event. The excitement could be felt right away!

The Library Board especially thanks the people who supported, and attended, this fundraiser, including all elected officials, since Thursday, April 19, was quite a busy night for non-profit organization events in Jersey City. We were gratified at the large attendance of guests at Casino Night. The Library Board acknowledges and thanks the library employees who made this event as successful as it could be.

We further thank the sponsors who placed advertisements in the Journal, and the grants received from Goldman Sachs, the Healy Foundation, PSE&G and The Provident Bank Foundation. The Silent Auction and casino prizes were provided by the kind, abundant hearts of those who donated, including the travel prizes from Council President Mariano Vega Jr. and Library Board member Sonia Zayas, Nancy and Nathan Sambul and Morris Winograd.

Dinner music in the form of light rock came from The Eamonn Ryan Band, which provided just the right sound as backdrop. We have much gratitude for that donation.

Special thanks go to Library Director and Foundation Executive Director Priscilla Gardner and Library Foundation Treasurer Michael Ryan, for their passionate commitment to the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation, Inc. It is because of their ongoing and thorough efforts, and the generosity of all those supporting Library Foundation charitable events, that the Jersey City Free Public Library is one step closer to purchasing a brand new, state-of-the-art, ADA-compliant, disabled-accessible Bookmobile.

Sincerely,
James K. Morley
President, Board of Trustees
