Come celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Dear Editor:

St. Francis Church, 3rd and Jefferson Sts., Hoboken, will offer three Masses preceding the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Tuesday, December 9-11, and a final one on Friday, December 12, her official Feast Day. All the Masses will be at 7 p.m.

The parish’s Parochial Vicar, Father Chris Panlilio, will be the Celebrant. The Masses will be in English, but some of the prayers will be in Spanish.

Our Lady of Guadalupe has been declared by the Catholic Church as the Patroness of the Americas. Catholics believe that the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, appeared to an Indian peasant near Mexico City almost 500 years ago. Mexicans are deeply devoted to her, and some of that devotion has spilled over to this country since the settlement of more Mexicans in our area.

We invite all those devoted to her to the Masses.
