A light at the end of the tunnel for Union City

Dear Editor:

I was happy to read in your newspaper that the State of New Jersey is going to give Union City a substantial amount of aid. While we owe thanks to the Governor for realizing the city’s plight, a great deal of credit must go to our Mayor, Brian Stack, for creating the kind of atmosphere and policies which motivate help on the state level.

It is apparent, in just the short time he has been at the helm, that his priorities are clearing up Union City’s fiscal mess, reducing spending and curbing costs, improving the level of service to residents and improving our quality of life.

Unlike his predecessor, any state aid will go towards the uses intended and not towards creating patronage jobs, political favors and self-promotion. Finally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
