BAYONNE — The city of Bayonne announced that they have been preparing for the snowstorm forecast for Jan. 11-12. The city’s emergency snow plan was to go into effect at 6 p.m. Municipal employees will handle salting, plowing, and shoveling. The city requests that motorists remove their cars from Broadway between 7 p.m. on January 11 and 9 a.m. on Jan.12. This will enable public works crews to plow Broadway to the curb. This information is subject to further notice as the snowstorm develops.
Traffic lights in Bayonne will be put on flash at 11 p.m. on Jan. 11. The city says: “Please do not drive during the snowstorm unless it is an emergency. Please drive with caution, if you must drive at all. For the snow emergency, police, fire, public works, and McCabe ambulance vehicles must have priority on local streets. If your vehicle gets stuck in the snow, please do not abandon the vehicle. Stay with your vehicle, and call the Bayonne Police Department for assistance at 201-858-6900. The Bayonne Department of Municipal Services has cancelled all Recreation Division activities scheduled for the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, Jan. 12.”
Regular garbage and recycling pick-ups are still scheduled for Wednesday, January 12.
City Hall civilian offices and Bayonne Municipal Court will be closed on Tuesday evening, January 11. The court will notify defendants of their new court dates by mail.
City Hall offices will be open for business on Wednesday, January 12.
