NORTH BERGEN – At a normal North Bergen Commissioners’ meeting, very few members of the public are in attendance; however the recently formed North Bergen Concerned Citizens Group planned to have more than 20 of its members in attendance Wednesday night for an 8 p.m. meeting.
The group formed a few months ago, under the guidance of North Bergen attorney Mario Blanch, due to of development and traffic along Tonnelle Avenue. Last month many members attended an Alcohol Beverage Control Board meeting to protest a strip mall development. At the meeting, one store applied for an ABC license. The hearing was postponed until Jan. 31.
They hope to use the public portion of tonight’s meetings to voice their concerns about the development.
“This is our community and we deserve to have a say in the development decisions that are made here,” said resident and group member Adrian Cepero. “The developers make money and move on. We have to live with the aftermath of overdevelopment.” – Tricia Tirella
