SULLIVAN, JOHN L

Funeral mass took place Feb. 24 at St. Anne’s Church, Jersey City, for John L. Sullivan, 88. He passed away at Cusack Care Nursing home on Feb. 21. Born in Jersey City, John was a retired detective with the Jersey City Police Department Juvenile Division. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Police Officers Benevolent Association, St. Ann’s Parish and the Holy Name Society. John served in World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Winooski. He was the recipient of the American Theatre Medal, European Theatre Medal and the Victory Medal. John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Scholastica Sullivan; his children, John Michael Sullivan, Christopher Patrick Sullivan and his wife Maxine, Mary Margaret Sullivan and Lawrence Gerard Sullivan and his fiance Maryann Collyer and two grandsons John L Sullivan and Michael Anthony Sullivan. John is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. Services arranged by McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
