Funeral mass took place Feb. 28 at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Hoboken for Thomas Luizzi, a lifelong Hoboken resident, known by some as “Gus.” He passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Hoboken University Medical Center on Feb. 16 at the age of 86. Thomas served his country in the United States Army spending a portion of his enlistment in the Philippine’s. Mr. Luizzi was a retired truck driver for many years with Cooper-Jarret in Queen’s, NY. He was a member of Union Local 560. Tommy will be missed by his loving wife Christina “Tina” (nee Vescuso); his two children Thomas Jr. and his wife Lorraine, and Anna DelGiudice and her husband Michael. He was exceptionally admired by his three grandchildren, Christina and Thomas Luizzi and Vincent DelGiudice. He was predeceased by his parents Lorenzo and Elizabeth, and shared an relationship with his in laws Joseph and Anna Vescuso who also predeceased him. Also surviving is a sister, Theresa Torre, a brother Andrew, and a host of nieces and nephews; two sisters, Mary Kelly and Grace Botazzi. A brother Lawrence predeceased Thomas. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
