A funeral service was held Feb. 22 for Robert L. Van Derveer, 83. He passed away peacefully on Feb. 18 at the Bellgrove Acute Care Center in Kearny. Robert was born in Jersey City and resided in Nutley for the past 25 years. He was a vice-president for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He was a Mason at the Masonic Temple in Jersey City. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II as an MP in Europe. He was predeceased by his sisters Marie Brinkerhoff, Ella Reichert, Myrtle Van Derveer, Erma Walsh, and her brothers William Van Derveer and Milton Van Derveer. He was uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by many dear friends. Services arranged by the G. Keenen O’Brien Funeral Home, Bayonne.
