A funeral mass was offered Feb. 19 for John “Yosh” Cardinali. He passed away peacefully on Feb. 14 at home in Albuquerque, N.M. Born and raised in Hoboken, the son of the late Adel and John Cardinali, he was a life-long resident until recently relocating to Albuquerque. Yosh was a member of the Teamster Employees of North Jersey Local 560 for 35 years and a member of The Brotherhood of Elks. His passions included cooking, traveling, swimming, gardening, for animals, horse races and playing the lottery. Most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Cardinali; son, John Cardinali and partner, Randall Phelan; daughter, Gina Cardinali; sister, Anna Vernaglia; brother, Joseph “Chick” Cardinali; sister-in-law, Margaret LeNoble; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A great joy in Yosh’s life was his only granddaughter Natascha Birkmayer. John was predeceased by a sister Marie Ippolitto and a brother James “Jim” Cardinali. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
