Arrested for alleged forgery

Julio Clavell, 31, of Flushing, N.Y., was arrested on March 17 and charged with forgery.
According to North Bergen Police Lt. Christopher Brignola, police were sent to a Kennedy Boulevard gas station after the owner reported that a man allegedly tried to pay a $53 tab with a fake $100 bill.
“He determined it was counterfeit due to the texture of the bill,” said Brignola.
The man allegedly took out another two $100 bills, which the owner also determined to be faked.
When police arrived, Clavell handed over the money to police and claimed that he had just gotten the money from an unknown man to whom he had just sold his iPad for $300 after responding to a Craiglist.com advertisement.
After police brought him to headquarters, they found a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court in Ridgefield. They also notified the Newark U.S. Secret Service office, which responded to interview him.
His bail was set by Judge Joseph Romano at $20,000 with no 10 percent bail bond option.

Police stop car, find pot

After police stopped his vehicle, Euchan Dongo, 35, of Woodside, N.Y. was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, and possession within 500 feet of public housing on March 6.
According to Capt. Joel Magenheimer, Police Officer Shaundell Barker was parked at the intersection of 69th Street and JFK Boulevard East at 6:30 p.m. observing traffic when she saw Dongo slam on his brakes after he noticed she was there.
A check of his registration came back that it was expired, and she initiated a motor vehicle stop.
After Main Towing arrived and told Dongo that he should remove any belongings he wished to take with him, he said he had to get his clothes and tools and started walking toward the trunk of the vehicle.
“Mr. Dongo opened the trunk and reached for a Walmart plastic shopping bag, which was now in plain view, and began bringing it out of the trunk,” said Barker. “As he did so, I could smell an odor of marijuana and could see a green color of some sort through the plastic.”
Dongo placed the bag into a black duffle bag and appeared to be nervous, said Magenheimer.
After Barker asked him to show her the contents of the bag, he allegedly responded, “I got a little bit of weed.” Police found a vacuum-sealed bag that contained what appeared to be marijuana.
Dongo allowed police officers to search the rest of his vehicle, but they found no additional CDS. Police also confiscated around $500, two cell phones, and an iPod.
His bail was set at $10,000 with no 10 percent bail bond option by Judge Frank Leanza.
