Nothing sneaky goin’ on

Dear Editor:
In response to the article in the March 7 Hudson Reporter, “Secaucus BOE’s Sneaky Budget Introduction . . . “ I would like to clarify the following points: The March 3 Secaucus Board of Education meeting to approve the preliminary 2011-2012 Budget was advertised on Monday, February 28. The purpose of a preliminary budget is so that it can be reviewed and approved by the County Superintendent/Manager, which occurred on March 10 with Monica Tone and Dr. Timothy Brennan. At the March 3 Board of Education meeting, a resolution was passed to hold the public hearing on the 2011-2012 Budget, to take place at 7 p.m. on March 24 at the Huber Street School. As has been past practice, Acting Business Administrator Ron Smith and I will present the overall budget and any necessary details at that time, so that all residents will thoroughly understand its ramifications. We are making every effort to provide the public with information regarding the 2O11-12 Budget.

Cynthia M. Randina, Superintendent of Schools
Secaucus School District
