WEST NEW YORK — A groundbreaking ceremony for the newly renovated Verrazano Park in West New York, located at 64th Street and Boulevard East, was held Tuesday morning.
The renovated park includes upgrades to the dog park area, which were influenced by resident input over the last few months.
Due to its construction atop an old tennis court, the old dog park retained water and dog urine, exuded an overwhelming stench, and prompted health concerns regarding fleas and bacteria.
The dog park serves West New York residents, as well as those from nearby Guttenberg, Union City, and Weehawken.
Donnelly Park, located at 57th Street and Boulevard East, has also received upgrades.
