Local business donates to NB

At a North Bergen Commissioners’ meeting two weeks ago, Denish and Shntoben Patel of Shanta Management Corp., located at 8518 Kennedy Blvd., donated $1,000 to the North Bergen Recreation Department’s public event fund. The money goes toward events like the Children’s Christmas Party and Halloween Parade.

Upcoming school board elections

The voter registration deadline for upcoming Board of Education elections is April 6.

Election day is April 27.

PMC weight loss seminar, free screenings

Palisades Medical Center has a weight loss surgical option seminar scheduled for April 21 at 6:30 p.m.
The event is free and free transportation will be provided from 5:30 p.m. from 60th Street and Bergenline Avenue. Parking, food and refreshments are also available at no cost.

Also, the hospital, in conjunction with the North Hudson Community Action Corporation, Christ Hospital School of Nursing, and the Hudson Perinatial Consortium, provides free health screenings and education programs throughout the year.
Screenings include blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, pulse oximetery, and cancer screenings.
In North Bergen there are screenings scheduled for April 3 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the IHM Chapel, located at 76th Street and Broadway; along with April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima, located at 8016 Kennedy Blvd.

Upcoming Park Players awards, auditions

On April 10 the Park Players, a Hudson and Bergen County theatre group, will host their Mikkie Awards at Antonia’s by the Park, located at 9011 Palisades Ave. in North Bergen.
Winners, chosen by the audience at selected performances, will be announced for their 2productions of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” “Nunsense,” “Mosaic of Love,” Showtunes,” “A Classic Holiday,” and “Godspell.”

Also, the Park Players will host auditions for “And Then There Was Nun” on April 11 from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. at the Fairview, located at 371 Bergen Blvd.
Those auditioning are asked to bring a monologue of any star or celebrity of from the Hollywood era.

Local church hosts events

The Gospel Tabernacle, located at 5029 Kennedy Blvd., is scheduled to host “Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus was a Kid” from Sunday, April 17 to Thursday, April 21 every night from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The church is also hosting a food pantry on the second and last Thursday of April from 6 to 9 p.m.
