Gettin’ eggy with it

The Easter hunt for goodies is on in UC and WNY

Easter Bunny, watch out – the season for hunting eggs is upon us and in Union City and West New York.
Hundreds of kids descended upon Memorial Park in West New York recently to scoop up eggs and other goodies; and on Saturday, kids in Union City will have their shot to collect the multicolored treasures too.

A ‘cheerful’ day in WNY

The West New York’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt, held on April 10, once again kicked off with a cheer from West New York Recreation Department Cheerleaders followed by a sequence of races for eggs divided into three age categories.

Union City planned to host its egg hunt on Saturday, April 23 at 12 p.m. at the Jose Marti Freshman Academy on Summit Avenue and 19th Street.

Lessons learned from the popularity of last year’s egg hunt created a more organized event this year, but some kids still went egg-less.
However, generosity abounded and many of those who were lucky enough to scoop up multiple eggs shared with those who did not.
The fun continued on after the hunt with games and visits with the Easter bunny.
All participants received a bag of candy and even parents went home with goodies of their own this year – half a dozen of real eggs.
