A funeral took place May 20 for Gertrude Griffo, 97. She passed away May 17. She was born and was a lifelong resident of Jersey City before moving to Union City two years ago. Gertrude was a crossing guard for both the Hoboken and Jersey City school systems for many years before retiring. She was the wife of the late Joseph Griffo and was the mother of Cornelius Broderick, Jimmy Broderick, John Broderick, Julia Gutierrez, Maureen Perry and the late Robert Broderick. Gertrude was also survived by 36 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
