HUDSON COUNTY — Even though the lease for Hunts Point produce market, the largest produce market in the country, is about to expire, the decision on whether to relocate to New Jersey could take months, according to newspaper reports.
Earlier media reports had said that the market might come to North Bergen or another local town.
“Either way, the market – officially the New York City Terminal Produce Co-operative Market at Hunts Point – will most likely have to stay in the Bronx for two years or so while a more modern facility is constructed in New York or North Jersey,” says the Record of Hackensack.
