Student sojourners

Kids from WHS tour Italy, Greece

Last month, over 37 students from Weehawken High School embarked on the trip of a lifetime by visiting places that many adults live their whole lives without seeing.
Every other year, the high school helps sponsor a trip for the students to different countries in Europe. This year, the destinations were Italy and Greece.

Led by English teacher Linda Shertel, Principal Dr. Peter Olivieri, and Assistant Principal Steven Spinosa, and 10 other chaperones, the students toured some of Europe’s most famous monuments.
The students paid for the trip themselves, with some costs defrayed by a local benefactor.
Olivieri said students (both young and old) had a great time and learned a great deal. Additionally, he commended them on their travel etiquette.
As for where Weehawken students may find themselves on the next school trip, Olivieri hinted that the next destination could be a tour of other European countries like Germany or perhaps as far as Egypt or China.
