Gov visits WNY to commemorate Cuban independence day

WEST NEW YORK — In the presence of residents and local officials on Thursday including Union City Mayor Brian Stack and new West New York Mayor Felix Roque, Gov. Christopher Christie made his way to the entrance of Las Palmas Restaurant on 61st in West New York to commemorate Cuban independence day and declare May 20, 2011 “Cuban Heritage Day” in New Jersey.
After the visit, Gov. Christie said that Roque “is a man the people can believe in and a man with much integrity. He was my friend for a long time, and now as mayor.”
Roque said, “There is too much corruption in West New York, and we will get get rid of the corruption with the governor’s help.”
