BREAKING: Outside agencies conducting criminal investigation in Hoboken, city says

HOBOKEN — Hoboken First Assistant Corporation Counsel Melissa Longo said Thursday morning that there is currently an investigation ongoing by outside agencies into at least one aspect of Hoboken City Hall. The third floor Information Technology office has been padlocked, but Longo could not comment on whether that office is involved with the investigation.
A knowledgeable source said that one agency involved is the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but that information was not confirmed by city officials or council members, who entered an emergency executive session last night at the beginning of the council meeting.
Of the outside investigation, Longo said: “This is a personnel matter, as well as a criminal investigation.”
Longo was unable to comment on the details.
Longo also said that information published on a local website implying that the outside investigation has to do with Council President Beth Mason’s investigation into the emails of two mayoral aides is “both false and irresponsible.” Keep watching HudsonReporter.com for more details. – Ray Smith
