Help out a Scout, and others: Give blood Saturday in Hoboken

HOBOKEN — This Saturday, May 21, Hoboken Boy Scout Troop 146 will hold an American Red Cross Blood Drive at St. Francis Church’s Parish Center at 308 Jefferson Street from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. St. Francis R.C. Church is the sponsor of Troop 146.
This blood drive is the Eagle Project for Charlie Bates, a Hoboken Resident. Charlie began scouting as a Cub Scout in Pack 146, and when he crossed the bridge to Boy Scout Troop 146, he had earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award available to Cub Scouts. As a member of Troop 146, Charlie has had numerous troop leadership positions, including two years as the Troop’s Senior Patrol Leader. He is currently a Life Scout and with the completion of this project will be eligible for his Eagle Board of Review, having already completed the other Eagle requirements. Charlie is a senior at St. Peters Prep and will be attending Villanova University in the fall of 2011.
