AvalonBay Development Breaks Ground
A planned apartment development broke ground on Wednesday, June 15. AvalonBay Communities will now begin to construct what is their 15th luxury apartment complex in New Jersey.
Located at 56th street and Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen, the community will consist of 164 rental units and 17,000 square feet of retail space. It is within walking distance of a light rail station.
The development is projected to create 160 construction jobs within the next year, as well as 60 permanent jobs upon completion, which is expected in spring 2012.
“We are taking a long unused site and turning it into quality housing and retail stores,” said Mayor Nicholas Sacco, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony. “It’s a wonderful project and I’m excited to see it become a reality.”
