What’s new in the Hudson Reporter newspapers this weekend?

HUDSON COUNTY – There’s plenty to read in the various editions of the Hudson Reporter newspapers this weekend.
In Jersey City, residents in McGinley Square East who are worried about whether the city will condemn and seize their homes for a new development plan sounded off at a public hearing. A gun buyback plan to get weapons off the streets was declared a success by the JCPD. And an in-depth story examines the lives of the homeless people who inhabit Journal Square.
In Hoboken, the new Zimmer-friendly City Council adopted a city budget with a tax cut, authorized eminent domain if needed to acquire land for a 4th Ward park, and moved municipal elections to November – all by narrow votes. A hearing on the pending sale of Hoboken University Medical Center allowed the public to again express their support and reservations on the $91 million deal.
North Bergen residents concerned about the Appleview condo project appeared in force before the Hudson County Planning Board.
In Secaucus, the search continues for a new supermarket to fill the gap left after two markets left town, and Shetik Field is getting a major facelift.
In West New York, one of the nation’s oldest Boy Scout troops has a variety of activities planned. The Union City Zoning Board heard a proposal for a new apartment building for 1908 York Avenue. And both papers have a profile of Federal Judge Esther Salas, the first Hispanic woman appointed to the district court.
So look for a copy of your local Hudson Reporter newspaper on your doorstep or at local outlets throughout the county and get up to date on the happenings.
