Sibling WHS athletes recognized at dinner

Two Weehawken high school athletes received awards, and two former athletes were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, when the Weehawken High School Class of 2011 held its Senior Athletic Awards Dinner and Athletic Hall of Fame induction on June 10.
Anthony Landi received the Lester H. Purvere Award as Outstanding Senior Male Athlete for achievements in football and basketball. His sister Rose Landi received the Ernest J. Demontreux Award as Outstanding Female Athlete for achievements in soccer and basketball.
Athletic Director Richard Terpak said this year was the first in decades in which siblings received the awards in the same year.
Anthony Petrosino, class of ’93, and Jose Martinez Javier, class of ’97, were inducted into the Hall of Fame. Petrosino distinguished himself playing basketball, and Javier enjoyed success in high school soccer and basketball during his high school tenure.
