SECAUCUS — On Thursday, in response to a state report alleging deficiencies at Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, the hospital’s president and CEO Tom Gregorio released a long written rebuttal.
“Hospitals are the most regulated business in the country and MHMC works daily 24 x 7 to meet the expectations of the Department of Health, the federal government and the community we serve,” said Gregorio.
While emphasizing how the hospital was resurrected from near closure last December when new owners MHA took over, going from a non-profit to a for-profit entity, Gregorio addressed the hospital workers’ union complaints that led to the state’s involvement. “The union’s tactics will not derail the mission of our organization or our vision for creating the premier hospital in a county that has suffered for years of substandard care,” said Gregorio.
Gregorio also elaborated on the community services provided by the hospital such as $18,000,000 to date in charity care and a free ambulance service for Secaucus residents.
The hospital has 10 days to respond to the state now that the report has been made public.
