For their own greedy self serving interests

Dear Editor:
Residents of Jersey City are well aware of individuals holding two or three lucrative government positions, which not only excels their paychecks but also liberally offers them the opportunity to collect multiple pensions. This also includes full pay on all their unused sick and vacation days, plus whatever additional perks granted upon them by our overly generous leaders. They indiscriminately use, without mercy, our hard earned tax revenues? Hopefully, these unrestricted entitlements will cease to exist with no loopholes.
These abominations are manufacturing a huge negative impact, to our already suffering economy. Whether anyone realizes it or not, this malignancy has produced a major malfunction, in contributing to our enormous deficit. We are forced to subsidize their selfishness, instead of improving our own quality of life. These unnecessary monetary depletions of our public finances will obviously escalate our mandatory contributions in the form of enhanced taxation. High taxes with unjustified wasteful expenditures are absolutely positively not the answer.
The more money spent on these unscrupulous acts of thievery, which literally picks our pockets clean, the less we have to spend on important essentials needed to support and maintain our own families. Yet, ironically, no major legitimate forms of protest have been administered from the general public, why? We are living in the age of high unemployment, high inflation, recession, foreclosures, high rents, high taxes, uncertainties and sacrifices. Why are we allowing these individuals to literally steal our life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for their own greedy self serving interests?
Now we are faced with another scam that may have been in existence for years, but recently revealed by the Police and Fire pension board. They submitted a request to the N.J. Department of the Treasury to perform an investigation.
The alleged inconsistencies exposed were related to certain retirees that are already collecting a pension, and then rehired by the same Department with a high salary. This practice is recognized as double dipping. Unfortunately this was discovered in the Hudson County Sheriffs Department.
This of course is unrelated to all those associated with this prestigious organization that are following all the correct rules and regulations, by collecting only one well deserved legitimate pension, with no callbacks.
It actually boggles the mind on what schemes are actually justified by the “seven deadly sins”, especially “gluttony”. Our elected leaders and department heads, have established a world of corruption, larceny, bribery, sleaze, and dishonesty. Our present situation would vastly improve if they actually spent as much time, intelligence and dedication in improving the lives of their residence, instead of developing various forms of neglect.
The multiple hidden discrepancies, related to these deceitful procedures, regarding the employment practices of Hudson County must be aggressively investigated. They have the uncanny ability to resurrect certain hand picked politically connected individuals into an overwhelming status of selected prominence. This investigation shouldn’t stop with the N.J. Department of the Treasury but should go to the next level, which is the State’s Office of the Attorney General.
