NORTH BERGEN AND BEYOND — North Bergen blogger Hal Turner has fired his public defender and will represent himself, the Hartford Courant reports.
According to the report, Judge Carl J. Schuman agreed to allow Turner to represent himself after he expressed his disagreement with the trial strategy of his lawyer, John Stawicki.
Turner, a white supremacist blogger and radio host whose home base is in North Bergen, is on trial following charges of inciting violence to public officials after he allegedly encouraged blog readers to “take up arms” against Connecticut lawmakers.
Turner is currently serving 33 months in federal prison after being convicted for threatening three Illinois judges in 2009.
