‘Real Housewife’ to host Jersey City/Hoboken pet event

HOBOKEN – Danielle Staub and daughters Christine and Jillian of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” will be appearing on the red carpet for a canine cause this Sunday, Oct. 16 during Liberty Humane Society’s eighth Annual “Bark in the Park” charity walk in Hoboken. As emcee, Ms. Staub will jazz up the 3 p.m. Doggie Couture fashion show in support of Hudson County’s homeless animals.
The Liberty Humane Society shelter in Jersey City takes in pets from Hoboken and Jersey City.
Doggie fashions for Paradise, Fendi & Sasha will be provided by Cornerstone Pets and Hoboken Pet. Danielle Staub and her daughters Christine & Jillian will showcase clothing courtesy of Serenity Boutique in Hoboken.

Goya get tax credit; may move jobs to Jersey City

JERSEY CITY AND SECAUCUS – The New Jersey Economic Development Authority unanimously approved on Tuesday an $81.9 million urban hub tax credit for Secaucus-based Goya Foods, Inc., according to news reports. Goya is considering building a 600,000 square foot facility on 350 County Road in Jersey City that would serve as its headquarters and distribution center.
Some jobs would be moved from Secaucus, while others would remain. Some jobs would be moved from New York. The current Secaucus location would be converted into a manufacturing facility.
The new facility would house 491 employees after moving 316 jobs from Secaucus, converting 100 contract employees in Secaucus to payroll, and transferring 66 jobs from a facility in Beth Paige, N.Y. as well as adding nine jobs.
According to the Record, authority officials said Goya has yet to make a decision. The company is also considering another site in New York.

VITAS Innovative Hospice Care seeks volunteers

Vitas Innovative Hospice Care of New Jersey North is looking for volunteers in Hudson County. Volunteers will visit patients in nursing homes, assisted living communities, and residences in order to provide support. Tasks include taking care of household chores and spending time with the patients,
Volunteers will be trained in listening skills and family dynamics. They will also learn the appropriate way to communicate with terminally ill patients and their families.
