Final Hudson River walkway event of the year to take place today
The Hudson River Waterfront Conservancy of New Jersey will hold their final walking tour along the waterfront walkway today (Sunday, Oct. 9) at 9:30 a.m. The 2.5 mile walk will take roughly two hours and is suitable for children and adults of all ages.
Walkers will meet at the Weehawken War Memorial at 1500 Avenue at Port Imperial. A donation of $5 is suggested.

Guttenberg reschedules Safe Kids Day
Guttenberg has rescheduled their annual Safe Kids Day event for today (Sunday, Oct. 9) from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Boulevard East between 68th and 71st streets.
The event will include amusements, food, demonstrations, music, and more. The Police will also fingerprint children in order to keep their information on record.
“We get a very big turnout there,” said Mayor Gerald Drasheff.
North Bergen Police to participate in national driving safety initiative
The North Bergen Police Department will participate in “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day,” a national driving safety initiative to take place tomorrow, Oct. 10. Police will be educating drivers on safety tips such as observing the speed limit and avoiding distractions.
“Clearly, this effort will go a long way in our continuing effort to stem the tide of tragedies that occur every day on New Jersey’s roadways,” said North Bergen Police Chief William Galvin. “Shining the spotlight on this one day can help create a groundswell of support for good driving behaviors that can save lives.”

North Bergen Library will hold free college admissions seminar
The North Bergen Public Library will hold a free college admissions seminar on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2:30 p.m. The seminar will provide college-bound high school sophomores, juniors, seniors, and their parents with tips for successfully navigating the admissions process, understanding how colleges assess students, and what to look for when visiting schools.
