Funeral services took place Oct. 3 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Jersey City, for Helen Rafalides, 82. She died Sept. 27 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, a daughter of the late Hariclia (Gaiolou) and Simion Rafalides, she worked as a department manager at Dun and Brandstreet, New York, for 35 years. She was a member of the Phioptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. She was involved in all aspects of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Jersey City. Helen was a benevolent soul; independent, with a zest for life itself. Helen embraced those whose lives she touched with warmth and sincerity and she will be loved and missed by all. She is the sister of Penny Curran and the late Dr. Paul Rafalides; sister-in-law of Frank Miller; aunt of Lea Colatrella and her husband Michael; and grandaunt of Alixandra and Zachary.
