Dear Editor:
As most of us know, the entire state legislative map was redrawn this past year due to mandatory redistricting which takes place every ten years. The new 32nd Legislative District consists of North Bergen, West New York, Guttenberg, Kearny, East Newark, Secaucus, Harrison, Edgewater, & Fairview. On November 8, we will have a choice of who we want to elect & represent us in Trenton. With Governor Chris Christie making deep cuts, we need to elect candidates who will truly fight for the hard working families of the 32nd District.
Angelica Jimenez is one of the 32nd District`s two Democratic nominees for State Assembly, this November. “Angie”- as her friends call her, is a mother of two & has been working within the healthcare field since 1986. Angelica is a lifelong West New York resident that has always been a key member of our community. Angelica has served in various roles throughout the years which include- Vice President of the West New York Housing Authority, Vice President of the West New York Board of Education, Chairwoman of the West New York Democratic Municipal Committee & currently serves as an elected member of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. Angelica was also one of the founding members of the West New York Women’s Club, a civic organization which has done a lot of good in our community.
On June 7 of this year (Primary Election Day), Angelica ran on the Democratic ticket led by State Senator Nick Sacco & Assemblyman Vincent Prieto. The Sacco team was victorious by a landslide. Shortly following this victory, the three candidates landed three major endorsements from three key organizations. Those endorsements came from the New Jersey Education Association, the AFL-CIO, & the Fraternal Order of Police.
The choice is clear. We have the opportunity to elect a Democratic team led by a lifelong public servant named Nick Sacco, who not only does an overall excellent job as Mayor of North Bergen, but also does an outstanding job as a well-respected State Senator in Trenton. We also have the opportunity to reelect Assemblyman Vincent Prieto, who has also served the residents of our community for many years with honor. I know for a fact that Angelica Jimenez will certainly follow in their footsteps. County Executive Tom DeGise & our County Freeholders are also up for reelection & they too deserve our support. Please join me in saying no to Governor Christie`s right-wing agenda & vote for the entire Column A Sacco team on Tuesday, November 8!
