Holiday Hudson Reporter advertising deadlines
Because of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, some of the Hudson Reporter newspapers will have special advertising deadlines.
For The Secaucus Reporter, The North Bergen Reporter, The Union City Reporter, The West New York Reporter, and The Weehawken Reporter, the deadline for classified and display advertising is Tuesday, Nov. 22, at noon.
The Hoboken Reporter and The Jersey City Reporter, the deadline for display advertising is Wednesday. Nov. 23,at noon.

Traveling WWI exhibit celebrates Veterans Day in Weehawken
Waddell & Reed’s “Honoring Our History” traveling World War I exhibition made Weehawken its 23rd stop on its national 75-city tour on Veterans Day. The exhibit was held in the parking lot of UBS Financial Services and allowed around 350 attendants to get a sense of the tools, weapons and uniforms used by soldiers in WWI.
To celebrate its 75th anniversary, Waddell & Reed – working in partnership with Ivy Funds and the National World War I Museum – developed an 18-wheel traveling World War I museum designed to raise awareness and funds for cultural institutions across the country during tough economic times.
While admission was free, the exhibit collected about $750 in donations to U.S. Congress’ National World War I Museum. For further details about the national tour, visit www.honoringourhistory.com.
Weehawken establishments hold food drives, dinners
Weehawken’s PERC branch located at 108 36th St. is accepting nonperishable food and paper good donations in preparation for Thanksgiving. They will also hold a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov. 24 at 5:30 p.m. for those in need. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter.

Pee Wee football team wins American Division Championship
On Friday, Nov. 11, the Indians — Weehawken’s Pee Wee football team — won the American Division Championship against the Ridgefield Royals 7-0. The team has not won a Division Championship since 1998.
Proud Coach Nadyr Albri said the team scored in the second quarter and the defense performed admirably as they held their competitors off for the rest of the game.
Weehawken Township Council to honor retired library director
On Sunday, Nov. 20, the Township Council and the Board of the Weehawken Free Public Library are hosting a special farewell open house in honor of Phillip R. Greco who retired after 17 years of dedicated service as Library Director.
The event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Library, located at 49 Hauxhurst Ave. Refreshments will be served.
Weehawken Woman’s Club to hold monthly meeting
The Weehawken Woman’s Club is holding a meeting on Monday, Nov. 22 at the Weehawken Senior Nutrition Center at begins at 7:15 p.m.

Scout Troop 233 holds successful holiday food drive
On Saturday, Nov. 12, Weehawken Boy and Cub Scout Troop 233 (founded by local Hal Hochhauser) held a holiday food drive in front of the Pathmark on Park Avenue for the Weehawken Food Pantry down the road.
Pastor Birgit Solano of the Good Shepard Church offered heart-felt thanks and praise for a job well done, as the boys managed to fill the pantry that day.
Cub Scouts Karl Stever, Monty Swanson, Sean Engleheart, Sebastian Subia, Ryhs Wylie, Noah Coyle, Jayden Garcia, Austin Cannata, Brennan Cannata, Alex Hernandez, and Gregory Mills joined Boy Scounts Lukas Stever, Joey Pinhasik, Jon Luc Zentner, Henry Hochhauser, Leo Hochhauser, David Gallardo, Chris Gallardo, and Adrian Castellanos in the effort.
The troop thanked the parents who participated by bringing their scouts, and sends a special thanks to Oscar Hernandez, Raphael Gallardo and John Cannata for hours of assistance. They also wanted to thank the community for donating food and cash.
The troop is sponsored by the Weehawken Elks and their meetings are held every Tuesday; the Cub Scouts meet from 6 to 7:15 p.m. and the Boy Scouts from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
