Woman says she was filmed in bathroom

A female employee of a small Guttenberg restaurant complained to police recently that she was allegedly being filmed on camera while in the bathroom.
According to Police, the owner of the establishment kept surveillance via five cameras placed throughout the restaurant. Police said that this employee claimed the owner would monitor both the store and his stock from his home, and call if anything was being done improperly.
The employee said she discovered a camera in the bathroom. The employee then waved her hand in the bathroom and said she noticed that she could see it visibly on the monitors outside the door.
She then signed a complaint for invasion of privacy, police say.
“To my knowledge there should be no camera in the bathroom,” said Captain Joel Magenheimer, who added, “[keeping] stock in the bathroom might be a Board of Health violation.”
A 32-year-old Jersey City man surrendered to police the night of Tuesday, Dec. 6. He was charged with invasion of privacy. He has posted the $10,000 bail, police said.
