A funeral mass was offered Dec. 1 at Evangelismos Church for Dorothea Polychronis, 89, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She passed away Nov. 28. She was a lifelong parishioner of Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church, and also member of many organizations including Philoptochos ‘St. Anna’, Eastern Star, Daughters of Penelope (Icarus No. 48) and served as president of the Sons of Agathopolis. Dorothea also helped run the family business, Summit Deli and Liquor Store, Jersey City. She was the wife of the late Constantine; mother of Christina Polychronis and the late Dean Chris Polychronis; sister of Sophocles and wife Olga Gacos and the late Peter and John Gacos; and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
