Dinner Dance a success

To the Editor:
This past fall, Troop 25’s Boy Scouts celebrated their annual Mackin Society Dinner Dance. This year, we honored Mackin Award recipient Mr. Jason O’Donnell. As chairperson of this event, I would like to acknowledge and thank our sponsors: Ken’s Marine Service, Bayonne Community Bank, NJ Shares, Port Eco, and McCabe Ambulance. Their generous support helped make this celebration a success. In addition to our sponsors, I would to also thank the many supporters of the Troop 25 Boy Scouts who purchased journal ads and tickets to the Dinner Dance.
The Dinner Dance is held each fall and is a time to honor an individual from our community who has had a positive impact on the youth of Bayonne. It is also an opportunity to help raise funds for our high adventure scouting program. The high adventure scouting program gives scouts the opportunity to visit and explore places such as the Florida Keys, Idaho, and New Mexico. Without the support from the Mackin Society, many young men would not be able to meet the financial obligation associated with each high adventure scouting trip.
Lastly, I would like share my gratitude to the amazing volunteers who gave endless hours of their time in helping me execute a plan for an enjoyable evening. As a result, there were many who attended the Dinner Dance and enjoyed a delicious menu, each other’s company, and dancing the night away. I hope many will mark their calendars & plan to celebrate with us again at next year’s Dinner Dance, to be held on Nov. 30, 2012.
