Holdco offer to buy Christ Hospital in Jersey City is rejected

HUDSON COUNTY — While the owners of Hoboken and Bayonne’s hospitals recently offered to buy Jersey City’s struggling Christ Hospital for $91.6 million, the offer has been rejected, according to news reports.
NJ.com reported that:
“The offer was quickly rejected by Christ Hospital officials, who are in the process of selling the hospital to California-based Prime Healthcare Services for $15.8 million. The terms of the sale are currently under review by the state Department of Health and Senior Services. ‘Having received several offers over the past year, Christ Hospital is moving forward with the asset purchase agreement by Prime Healthcare Services, which we believe is in the best interests of the hospital and the community we serve,’ Paul Hebert, a spokesman for Christ Hospital, said in a statement.”
The $91.6 million figure involves forgiveness of loans and other amounts. A Christ Hospital spokesman declined to comment this week when asked why they would prefer the $15.8 million offer.
