MORETTI, PHILIP J. SR.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Dec. 14 at St. Justin’s RC Church, Toms River, for Philip J. Moretti, Sr., 86. He passed away Dec. 10. Born in West Hoboken, Philip was a lifelong resident of North Bergen before moving to Toms River 22 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in WW II. He was a retired letter carrier with the US Post Office in North Bergen, retiring in 1990. Prior to the Post Office he had worked at Duro-Test Inc. in North Bergen and was president of their union. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 501.
Philip was very active in the North Bergen community having served as President of the Pop Warner Football Associa-tion and he helped form and served as president of the Biddy Basketball Program in North Bergen. Philip was a communicant of St. Justin’s RC Church, Toms River and was a member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus Council 4969. Philip is survived by his wife of 64 years, Angela Minervini Moretti; two sons, Nicholas and Jean Moretti of Livingston, and Philip J., Jr. and Alice Moretti of Athens, N.Y.; and two brothers, Nicholas and Dorothy Moretti of Saugerties, N.Y. and Anthony and Peggy Esposito of Flemington. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Anthony Moretti in 2003. Services arranged by the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Toms River.
