Report: former Secaucus Town Administrator Iacono enters pre-trial intervention

SECAUCUS AND BEYOND — Former Secaucus Town Administrator Anthony Iacono, who served during the administration of former Mayor Dennis Elwell and was often seen as the power behind that administration, has entered a pre-trial intervention program, the Record reported on Saturday.
The program is for first-time drug offenders, the newspaper reported. He was arrested while driving in Hoboken last February and charged with cocaine possession. At the time, he was serving as Passaic city manager.
Ultimately, Iacono pleaded guilty to DWI.
The Record reports: “Iacono was fired as Passaic city manager the day after his arrest. A Hudson County grand jury later indicted him on drug possession and evidence tampering charges. Rather than stand trial and face a possible jail sentence, Iacono accepted the plea bargain.”
