Mission accomplished

Dear Editor:
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every individual that helped make this year’s Annual Hoboken Police Department Toy Drive a success. Without the toys donated by the Wallace School Peer Leaders, Hoboken MC’s and Hoboken P.A.L., the drive would not have been possible. I’d also like to extend a special thanks to my husband, P.O. Vito Gigante, my three “elf” sons Antonio, Vito and Vincent, Chief Anthony Falco, Director Garcia, my fellow officer P.O. Jill Costello and her “elf” daughter Adriana, Sgt. Gino Jacobelli, Sgt. Edmund Drishti, P.O. Arbend Drishti, P.O. Edward Lepre, P.O. James Barbro and his wife, Antonina, who all assisted in putting the drive together and helped Santa make his deliveries.
Our mission would not have been complete without the assistance of the officers assigned to the Hoboken housing area, Lieutenant Charles Campbell, Sergeant Mike Costello, and Officers Gomez, Arturo Gonzalez, Markey and Mecka.
The drive was started many years ago and was designed to help families in need by bringing a little extra holiday cheer to the children. This year we were able to assist over forty families. In these tough economic times, now more so than ever, it’s important to remember that it is better to give than to receive. I hope that everyone has a happy and healthy holiday season & a happy New Year. God bless us all.

Sincerely,
Sgt. Melissa Gigante
Hoboken Police Department
