Free ‘Mind & Meditation’ seminar Jan. 12

A free Mind & Meditation seminar will be offered at the Secaucus Public Library and Business Resource Center on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. The seminar focuses on breathing techniques, low impact yoga, and meditation. The seminar is an introduction to powerful techniques that increase your well-being through reduced stress, increased health and well-being, more ease and joy in personal relationships, improved self-esteem, greater creativity and clarity of mind and a deeper sense of community. Relaxed clothing is recommended for the session.

Author Michael Griffo presents Unwelcome at the Secaucus library

Secaucus High School graduate Michael Griffo, author of the teen trilogy Archangel Academy, will speak at the Secaucus Public Library and Business Resource Center on Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. Griffo will discuss his second book in the series, Unwelcome, which was recently published and is geared toward adult and young adult readers. The series began with Unnatural, focusing on a newly-made young adult vampire who attends a school for vampire training. This second book in the series continues to build upon this plot. Chess Club and gaming at the library

The Chess Club for youths ages 5 and up will meet on the second and third Thursdays – Jan. 12 and 19 and Feb. 9 and 16 – from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Youths are also invited to play board games every Thursday. Crafty ’tween events continue at the library

Tweens between the ages of 8 and 12 are invited to create their own do it yourself (DIY) crafts at the Secaucus Public Library on Jan. 17 and Feb. 14. Tweens can stop in anytime between 3:30 and 5 p.m. On Jan. 17, tweens create sock friend warmers. Participants should bring one pair of colorful cotton socks. Ciel Power , EnHatch, and TIMA join NJMC Business Accelerator

An energy efficiency firm and two companies that specialize in implementing cost-saving measures in the medical field are the latest early-stage businesses to join the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) Business Accelerator program, which advances the commission’s ongoing commitment to support and grow small businesses. Ciel Power, an energy efficiency company, EnHatch, a medical technology company, and Technology Integration for Medical Applications (TIMA), a medical IT company, took residence in the Accelerator’s offices in December.
