Former NBA player and coach Mike O’Koren visits HHS

Mike O’Koren, former National Basketball Association player and coach, visited Hoboken High School on Jan. 11 to conduct a boys’ varsity basketball practice. Coach O’Koren worked with high school players and provided basketball instruction and life lessons. Mike grew up in Hudson County just like our own students and understands the obstacles and challenges that our students face every day.
“Having Coach O’Koren here was a wonderful opportunity for our student athletes to experience. I want to thank Mr. Baker for allowing his uncle to work with our players,” said Martin Shannon, Hoboken High School Athletic Director. “Coach O’Koren brought great leadership to Hoboken High School and a positive energy to the boys’ basketball program and I would like to thank him for coming and he is welcome anytime.”
