A funeral service was held Jan. 24 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Secaucus for Elsie O. VanBennekum, 95. She passed away peacefully on Jan. 20. She was a resident of Secaucus for many years, formerly of Hoboken. Elsie was a parishioner of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Elsie was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are two sons, John and his wife Georgia, Bill and his wife Peg; and two daughters Linda Dolan and her husband Mike and Janet Aikman and her husband John. Elsie was predeceased by her husband John; her three brothers Walter, William and George Witt; and her sister Adelaide Gallo. A special joy in her life were her 12 grandchildren, Michele, Amy, Tim, Beth, David, Steven, B.J., Denise, Jason, James, Lisa and Kirstie. Elsie was also blessed with 8 greatgrandchildren, Abby, Jillian, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Blaine, Claire, Zack and Brady. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
