Report: State will look into allegations that North Bergen High School football program recruited two players

NORTH BERGEN — Following a Star-Ledger article alleging that two student athletes were recruited for North Bergen High School’s football team this past year, the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association has started an investigation, according to a story published Monday afternoon at NJ.com.
North Bergen Schools Superintendent Robert Dandorph said of the two students who spoke to the Ledger for the article, “our primary focus is to ensure that these two student athletes continue to have a productive and meaningful educational experience at our high school.” The school principal said the students had not been subject to any retaliatory harassment.
Long-time Coach Vincent Ascolese retired this season after his team won the state championships. If the team was found to have violated NJSIAA rules, their title could be taken away.
