Dear Editor:
On behalf of myself and the volunteers at the North Bergen Concerned Citizens Group, I want to thank all the people and businesses from North Bergen and surrounding communities who generously donated, clothing, food and money to help the victims of the recent building fire on Broadway.
The response from the community for the people left homeless by the blaze has been overwhelming and inspiring. I especially want to note the generous donation made by Peter Degast, owner of the Union City IHOP.
The community response to the victims of the fire has been a vivid demonstration of the compassion that residents have for their neighbors who have been hit by tragedy. The NBCCG and I have been proud to play a role in aiding the families that have lost so much. We will continue to work with the community in every way possible to improve the lives of our neighbors and friends.
