Rothman announces campaign team
Congressman Steve Rothman (D-Fair Lawn), who is running for re-election in the 9th Congressional district against Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson), announced his campaign team for the Democratic Primary in the 9th Congressional District, which includes Secaucus.
The primary battle is the result of redistricting, as the U.S. Census forced portions of Congressional Districts 5, 8, and 9 to combine into two districts. Secaucus and Kearny are the only Hudson County municipalities in the new 9th Congressional District.
According to a press release, the campaign team includes Paul Swibinski of Vision Media who will serve as the campaign’s general/media consultant. Swibinski is described as the architect of Rothman’s first congressional campaign in 1996. He has worked for several officials in Hudson County.
Another Hudson County political operative, Tom Bertoli, will serve as the campaign’s field Director and vote by mail coordinator.
Jeff Plaut of Global Strategies Group will serve as polling consultant. Other team members include individuals with political experience in Bergen County.
Pascrell courts Latino vote, launches website
Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson), who is running against local Congressman Steve Rothman (D-Fair Lawn) for the 9th Congressional district, hosted a rally for Latino leaders from across the district last week, including Passaic County Chairman John Currie, Sen. Nellie Pou, and Passaic Mayor Alex Blanco. Several Latino leaders from Passaic, Hudson, and Bergen counties attended the event, which was held in Paterson.
Pascrell’s team also launched a web site last week: www.realdemsstandandfight.com in order to demonstrate how the 9th District primary hurts the middle class.
