Man with gun robs liquor store on Saturday evening

Police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly stole $250 from a downtown liquor store near the southernmost end of Garden Street on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
The light skinned man, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a thin build, allegedly walked into the liquor store with a black handgun, according to a police report.
The victim told police that the man pointed the gun at him and told him to give him all the money. The victim complied, and the man then ran west on Newark Street.
An immediate search of the area for the man was unsuccessful, but police are investigating.

Woman allegedly slaps officer during downtown fire

While police were working on crowd and traffic control during the Sunday night fire at 300 Washington St., police say that one woman started some trouble of her own.
Rachael Lynch, 35, of Hoboken, was allegedly yelling at pedestrians, according to police.
Police say they saw Lynch, who they said appeared to be intoxicated, allegedly swing her arms toward an unknown citizen, and police immediately intervened.
Lynch then allegedly slapped the police officer in the face, according to a police report. An officer placed the woman on the ground and she allegedly resisted orders.
She was eventually arrested and charged with aggravated assault, obstructing administration of law, and disturbing the peace.

Vomit and a DUI

A 22-year-old Washington N.J., man was charged with driving under the influence and careless driving on Feb. 22 at approximately 12:55 a.m.
A police officer saw a Honda Civic cross the double line on the 900 block of Sinatra Drive at a high rate of speed, according to a police report, so the officer followed the car.
When the vehicle reached 15th and Hudson streets, a passenger in the vehicle vomited out the window, according to police, causing the officer to stop the car.
Police say Rohan Sangle, the driver, took a long time to respond to questions and spoke slowly. Sangle told police that he had one beer at a bar, but couldn’t remember the name of the bar, according to police.
Sangle allegedly failed three field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence and careless driving.

Man allegedly tells police he has a gun, allegedly bites cop

A 28-year-old Hoboken man allegedly reached into his pants and told police he had a gun on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 3:45 a.m. near the 50 block of Hudson Street, according to police.
Kimani Lawrence, of Hoboken, was involved in a verbal altercation in a large group, according to police. When police arrived he allegedly told them he had a gun, police said.
With their weapons drawn, police told Lawrence to get on the ground, and he allegedly failed to comply, police said.
One police officer then took Lawrence to the ground and arrested him.
At police headquarters, Lawrence allegedly kicked the fingerprinting machine when trying to get up, and then bit a police officer on the finger, according to police.
Lawrence was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, obstructing administration, and resisting arrest, according to police.

Sting nets alleged heroin dealer

Police arrested two men on drug related charges on the 300 block of Jackson Street on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. after setting up a surveillance post in response to residents’ complaints about drug activity in the area.
Police say they observed a group of four men engage in a brief conversation, and then saw what they believed was a drug transaction, according to a police report.
Jerome Fuller 30, of Jersey City, allegedly reached into the waistline of his pants and retrieved a large plastic bag, and allegedly pulled out a smaller bag of marijuana. Fuller allegedly rolled a blunt and began to smoke it, according to police.
Police moved in, searched, and arrested Fuller and another man.
Malik High, 23, of Jersey City, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, according to police.
During a search of Fuller, police say they found marijuana, the drug known as PCP, and heroin.
Fuller was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of heroin within 500 feet of a public housing building, possession of heroin, possession of PCP, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.

Hoboken woman robbed of $800 worth of merchandise in home

Between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 21, a woman’s apartment on the 300 block of Monroe Street was robbed of $800 in merchandise, according to a police report.
The woman told police she left for work in the morning and locked all of her doors. But when she returned the door was unlocked. A check of her apartment revealed that her jewelry box top was broken, a closet was ransacked, and items were taken from her bedroom. Two bags, clothing, and makeup were stolen from the apartment, according to a police report. Police are investigating.
